Technical faults affecting PlayStations

Playstations, like all other game consoles, can develop technical faults, as described on many Playstation forums. Creative IT can take care of all Playstation consoles that are out of warranty. As for PS2, many users have experienced disc read error messages making it impossible for the console to read their favourite game. Many discussions have taken place regarding PS3s and the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD). This happens when the console doesn't turn on and the light goes green, yellow and then starts flashing red. This fault is caused by overheating on the CPU which creates a hardware problem on the graphics chip. This affects primarily the 60 GB original console model after 18 to 24 months of use. Creative IT uses a high specs infra red BGA soldering station to heat the chip up and resolder it to the main circuit board: this is what is called a reflow. This will repair the dry joints on the console and get it in working order again. At the same time of the reflow, our technicians also carry out a proper cleaning of the cooling system in order to prevent this fault form reoccurring.Another common issue that our technicians have to deal with is a fault related to the blu-ray laser that has to be replaced.Accidental damage and cracked screen occurring on a PSP is a common occurrence. Creative IT carries out PSP repair and LCS screen replacement on the spot.

How to repair your PlayStation?

Creative IT offers while you wait console repair to PlayStation owners in London and surrounding areas. There is a walk-in game console service Monday to Saturday from 0900 until 1800. Our technicians will disassemble the PlayStation unit and diagnose its fault on the spot. We have an large stock inventory of Playstation parts including lasers, blu-ray lasers, hard drives and internal power supplies. This allows us to carry fast and professional repairs that carry a three month warranty. We also take the opportunity to clean the drawer mechanism and the laser while the unit is disassembled.We also sell accessories such as Playstation controllers.
